World of Warcraft - Item Upgrading
The item upgrade allows players to boost an item's gear rating up to 700 points and add a bonus. Items can be upgraded if they are in your inventory and you decide to take them to the kiln.
Certain items can be upgraded for their unique stats (like perfect made breakpoint armour that can be rolled to use in melee PvP) and others, like weapons, do not vary greatly post upgrade, and therefore aren't worth upgrading.
Weapons
Weapons can be upgraded to improve their numeric stats such as the chance to crit, attack damage as well as PvE and damage to PvP. Weapons have a flat-rate bonus that increases damage per second. A lot of weapons also have a fixed bonus which is activated when three or more identical weapons are used in a group. This bonus can sometimes exceed the damage that an upgrade can do on its own.
A weapon's upgrade costs depend on the nature of the weapon as well as its current level. For instance, a +2 weapon will require two regular Smithing Stones to upgrade while an upgrade of +3 requires four. The number of stones needed to upgrade a gun will increase until it needs a higher level of Smithing Stones. At that point, it will reset back to one.
Upgrading weapons will also reroll their base stats. While this is usually an excellent thing however, it could have negative consequences as well. For items that only see use in a certain build (Whistant's shield for FB sorcs for instance) upgrading them could render them useless unless you have an extremely fortunate roll.
Armor items can also be upgraded to boost their performance. For example, if you upgrade chests or helms it will boost the defense of its base, while a belt and gloves will increase their strength and dexterity. Armor also offers the option of rerolling its Enhanced Defense percentage, which means that it may reroll to a lower value.
The upgrade template of a weapon will display the new stats it will gain when upgrading, along with the relative value of those stats. This means that an upgrade from a sword with 8 damage to an 11-attack-damage sword would result in a weapon gaining an attack damage of 3. The 3% difference does not mean that the weapon will be hit 3 times less, as it is an absolute number.
A weapon can be rerolled by pressing the green button, which is accompanied by circling arrows in the item menu. The item will be rerolled and change its stats, however, it will not reset the weapon's level or connect to the status of your account.
Armor
Making a few improvements to your armor can make a huge difference in your ability to survive. Certain sets offer massive improvements in the resistance to curses, poisons and fire as well as magic. This can make it easier to get through difficult areas. In general, the more defense you have for your character, the greater health you will receive from each point. So, it's best to upgrade your armor.
You can upgrade your armor by visiting one of the Great Fairy Fountains. There are four Great Fairy Fountains available in the game and in order to unlock each fountain, you have to complete an additional quest involving the Stable Trotters. After you've completed the main side quest and mastered the corresponding fountain, you can then speak to any Great Fairy to open up the armor upgrading menu.
The amount of material needed to upgrade each piece of armor will vary. In general, you'll need at anywhere between three Red Chuchu Jellies and 10 Rupees for the first upgrade, and then anywhere from five Rubies and 10 Fire-Breath Horns for each subsequent one. For instance the Champion Leathers could be upgraded to +5 defense, which allows you to keep pace with a good-sized group of enemies in most cold climates, and the Snowquill Headdress can be upgraded up to +20 defense, providing you enough protection to survive an entire raid with a handful of friends.
You can't upgrade armor like weapons. If you're playing as a Warrior, you should focus on upgrading your armor for physical power or spell power. It's also a good idea to save your armor upgrades to use for armor you'll be wearing at the end of the game, like the Ring of Lightning and Spectral Shield, or the helmet you'll wear for the final boss battle, the Monter Parts Merchant's mask.
You can also get some benefits to your armor by presenting the jeweler in Gerudo Town 10 Twinkling Titanite. It is generally recommended to save these upgrades to the weapon you'll use to beat the game. For item upgrades , the Longsword or Battleaxe. But it's useful to have a few upgrades to the helmets and chest armor to let you escape some monsters.
Potions
Potions are liquid substances that, when consumed give the player a temporary status effect. There are five different types of potions, each with specific effects and durations. Some potions may be upgraded, increasing their effectiveness. You can also increase the effects of certain potions by adding redstone dust and glowstone dust.
Upgrades to potion require a certain amount XP. This can be obtained through crafting them on a crafting table, or by storing them in the Alchemist chest. However, the cost of upgrading will vary based on the type of potion you want to upgrade, as well as on the item's Mark Level and rarity.
To upgrade a potion to the next level, right-click on it in your inventory and select the "Upgrade" option from the menu. This will open a GUI that allows you to select the potion you wish to upgrade, and the amount of experience they will give you when upgraded. You can upgrade potions in batches of up to five at a time, and their XP will be added to the total XP you currently have.
Once a potion is upgraded, it will not degrade unless you make use of it again or break the bottle in the container it is stored. Clicking on the potion in your inventory will also allow you to change the name of the potion.
Version 1.7.2 brought a few changes to the mechanics of potions. Splash potions for instance, now have a duration that is 0:08 instead of 22.5 seconds that are displayed on the hover display for the item. The potion table is constructed from four Wood Planks, and two Glass. It can be used in both Survival and Bedrock. Bedrock Edition potions are not compatible with cauldrons, unlike Java Edition. Similarly, using a potion in a cauldron that is full drains the potion and replenishes the bottle.
Lastly, there are now lingering potions that are made using dragon breath and splash potions. Similar to lingering potions, the' effect is extended by adding redstone. The table of potion ingredients is now arranged more like the Java Edition, and new potions were introduced, including potion of leaping, decomposition potion, as well as turtle master potions.
Trinkets
A trinket is an ornamental item that is small, cheap or piece jewelry. It may be a reference to an object or decoration that serves a purpose but is not particularly important like a trinket. In certain cultures, a trinket can be used to show affection or friendship between family members.
In addition to armor, weapons, and potions, players can upgrade their trinkets. Upgrades can be purchased by paying the appropriate currency to an upgrade vendor. As with other upgrades to items, trinkets can be traded out at any time without losing their stats.
The upgrade vendors are located in major cities and the capital of each zone, and in in dungeons. Upgrades for trinkets are available using tokens, gold or fragments of rare trinkets.
The upgrade of a trinket can be a cost-effective alternative to purchasing a new one. It is possible to upgrade players for less than 12 tokens. The new trinket will feature the same base ilvl as the previous one, and will include an additional upgrade bonus of 1.
When the old Trinkets are no longer usable they can be upgraded. This allows a player to increase their power and value with time. They can be traded among players, making them an alternative to gold.
Players must upgrade their most valuable items first. This typically means the top-of-the-line items for their class, followed by their secondaries and then other items of gear will not be replaced soon (for example, a ring or cloak). Players should also take into consideration their class's preferred stats when deciding the items to upgrade. If Haste and Crit are two of the most important stats to tank players, then they should upgrade their chest, helm and shoulders.
Once they have become useless trinkets can be upgraded to a greater level. The new trinket comes with an additional 1% bonus. However, a re-upgrade is likely to ruin the previous trinket until it is salvaged with the Black Lion Salvage Kit or a higher-tier salvage tool. Upgrades to trinkets can be more expensive than other upgrades but still cheaper than buying an entirely new trinket.
